Three months after the verdict, the grand ballroom of the high-end hotel was filled with white orchids, crystal chandeliers, and the brilliant sound of a string quartet playing a classical sonata. It was the annual Educational Foundation Gala, and the room was packed with university scholars, tech founders, and international dignitaries.

Sophia stood near the tall terrace windows, a glass of sparkling water in her hand, looking radiant in a custom emerald green gown. Her face was entirely free of the exhaustion and betrayal that had defined her past.

Mr. Peterson walked over to her, a genuine smile breaking across his face as he handed her a tablet displaying the evening’s fundraising metrics.

"The scholarship rollout just finalized," Peterson said proudly. "We’ve established forty new full-ride allocations for underprivileged students. The endowment is completely covered by the liquidation proceeds from the Miller family's remaining holdings."

Sophia looked out at the guests, then down at her ring finger, where her family's vintage diamond ring caught the warm light of the chandelier like it had been trained to do one thing: remind her of who she truly was.
