She Tried to Kill My Son on a Rooftop—But She Never Expected Who Would Return

CHAPTER 1 — THE FALL

"Mom... don't cry."

Noah's voice shook.

The little boy stood at the very edge of the rooftop.

One more step and there would be nothing beneath him except seventy floors of empty air.

A glamorous woman in a metallic purple dress gripped the back of his shirt.

Juliette.

The woman who had spent three years destroying his family.

"I love you, Mom."

"Noah!"

Emily screamed.

Two bodyguards pinned her to the concrete.

She kicked.

Scratched.

Twisted.

Nothing worked.

Juliette smiled as if she were watching a movie.

Then she leaned closer to Noah.

"She'll be right beside you soon."

And shoved him.

The world stopped.

"No!"

Emily exploded forward.

A guard grabbed her shoulder.

She rammed her elbow into his ribs.

Another reached for her.

She slipped free and sprinted.

Noah disappeared over the ledge.

Emily dove.

Her body slammed onto the concrete.

Her arm shot into empty air.

For one impossible second—

She caught him.

Noah dangled above the city.

His small hand trembled inside hers.

The sudden weight nearly pulled Emily over the edge.

Half her body now hung above open sky.

Dust crumbled beneath her fingers.

Below them, the city stretched forever.

"Mom..."

"I'm here."

Emily's voice shook.

"I'm here."

Juliette walked toward them calmly.

Not worried.

Not rushing.

Enjoying every second.

"You still don't understand, do you?" Juliette said.

Emily glared at her.

Juliette pulled a document from her purse.

Christopher's will.

The signature looked genuine.

The seal looked genuine.

Every page left Christopher's empire to Juliette.

Not Emily.

Not Noah.

Juliette smiled.

"He chose me."

Emily felt her stomach drop.

Then Noah whispered something.

Something so quiet only she could hear.

"Mom..."

"What?"

"That's not the paper Dad showed me."

Juliette froze.

Only for a second.

But Emily saw it.

The smile disappeared.

May you like

For the first time—

Juliette looked afraid.
