Chapter 4 — The Lie That Built a Marriage

Richard's face turned completely white.

Margaret whispered,

"No..."

Evelyn slowly looked up.

Her hands trembled.

"You told me..."

Richard backed away.

"You told me I was an only child."

He swallowed.

"Evelyn..."

"You told me everyone died in the accident."

"I can explain."

Her voice cracked.

"Then why is she standing here?"

Richard couldn't answer.

Instead...

He ran.

He pushed through the crowd, knocking guests aside before sprinting toward the ballroom's golden elevator.

The crowd erupted into chaos.

Reporters chased after him.

Security didn't know whom to follow.

Evelyn screamed after him.

"You told me my twin died!"

The elevator doors closed.

Richard disappeared.
