With the threat removed, Arthur immediately knelt back down beside Maya. The coldness in his eyes vanished, replaced by the warm, nurturing light of a devoted father.
“Are you ready to go home, Maya?” Arthur asked gently, smoothing her dark hair.
“Can we get ice cream first?” Maya asked, her innocent voice cutting through the heavy tension of the room. She held her cloth doll up. “Lilly is hungry too.”
Arthur let out a wet laugh, tears pricking the corners of his eyes. “Yes, sweetheart. We can get all the ice cream you and Lilly want.”
He took the handles of her wheelchair. As he turned to leave, the crowd of wealthy guests parted respectfully, their heads bowed. They had just witnessed a masterclass in power, but more importantly, they had witnessed a father’s unwavering dedication to his child.

Arthur paused, considering his words carefully. Family dynamics and teaching his daughter the right values were his utmost priority. “Maya, some people in this world are very poor. You have more wealth in your little finger than that woman will ever have in her entire life.”

Maya nodded slowly, processing his words. “I feel sorry for her, Daddy. She must be very lonely.”
Arthur smiled proudly at his daughter’s empathy. Despite the ugliness of the world, Maya remained pure, a testament to the love and care he had poured into raising her.
