Chapter 4 – The Woman in the Gray Uniform

Emma never looked back.
She walked out of the hotel alone, her gray uniform soaked by the cold afternoon rain. Behind her, the wedding music resumed as if nothing had happened.
Nathan tried to push the encounter out of his mind.
Serena slipped her hand into his.
"Don't let her ruin our day," she said softly.
He nodded.
But that night, sleep refused to come.
When he finally drifted off, he found himself standing inside a dark hospital room.
A heart monitor beeped steadily.
Someone was sitting beside his bed.
He couldn't see her face.
Only her hands.
They were rough from years of hard work, gently holding his own.
A soft voice whispered,
"You don't have to wake up today."
"I'll come back tomorrow."
Nathan jolted awake, breathing hard.
His heart pounded against his ribs.
He couldn't remember the woman's face.
But he remembered one detail with terrifying clarity.
She wasn't wearing a white dress.
May you like
She was wearing...
a gray uniform.
